Miller & Newberg Celebrates Lori Newberg’s Leadership

It’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it’s what you leave behind you when you go.” – Randy Travis, “Three Wooden Crosses”

On April 1, the Miller & Newberg family gathered for a special event, a celebration of Lori Newberg’s 20+ years of leadership in the firm as she transitions into semi-retirement.

Lori has served as the appointed actuary for a variety of insurance companies and fraternal benefit societies. She has priced and developed countless new life insurance and annuity products. She has developed a thriving practice assisting accounting firms with their annual audits of insurance companies. She has been part of the leadership team that has quadrupled company revenue over her tenure. And she has hired and trained a new generation of employees at Miller & Newberg.

But that merely scratches the surface of Lori’s real impact and legacy. Lori and the leadership team decided that Miller & Newberg would be atypical to many actuarial consulting firms, creating a much better solution for both our clients and employees. Here, she fostered a team-based approach that encourages sharing of expertise and spreading client work among multiple staff members. The result is a much more robust level of support for our clients that isn’t reliant on any one individual, and a much more stable and rewarding work environment for our employees. It’s no surprise then that as Miller & Newberg has grown, it has experienced very little client or employee turnover. It’s a win-win for all involved.

Lori hasn’t been shy to say that her passions are faith, family, and fun. With a growing group of grandchildren, Lori has felt called to spend a lot more time with them. But not to worry, she’s still planning to come to the office when needed, and, of course, our President & CEO, Eric Newberg, knows where to find her, so we’ll still get to benefit from her wisdom and expertise. Also, Lori will continue to serve on the Board of Directors for Modern Woodmen of America, one of the largest fraternal benefit societies.
